Having been involved in the sawmilling and timber processing
industries for over one hundred years, Gunns Timber has a wealth
of experience in all aspects of the timber industry.
Today the company saws and processes logs sourced from a wide
range of private and state forests at its five modern saw mills
and three value adding plants throughout Tasmania.
There are three species of Eucalypt used in the production of
sawn hardwood. These species are Eucalyptus obliqua, Eucalyptus
regnans and Eucalyptus delegatensis. These species are used
for their superior drying and finishing properties.
Tasmanian Hardwood is quarter sawn giving the timber outstanding
strength and stability characteristics.
